Formerly the shrine of San Nicasio, its origins date from the 15th century. It has a rectangular floorplan and the roof consists of five tunnel-vaulted sections inset with windows, with the upper choir in the first section. The sanctuary is crowned with a semi-spherical dome set on pedentives. The vaulted sections are raised above the floor by means of pilasters on which stand the plaster figures of Saint Peter, St Paul, and the Evangelists.
Space is at a premium on the interior thanks to the exuberant Baroque decoration which extends over the dome and the vault, and can also be seen around the windows.
