Castillo de Priego
Arab fortress reformed in the 13th and 14th centuries. It is essentially military in character, and is somewhat austere in keeping with the defensive functions for which it was originally built.
It consists of an outer wall with square towers, and one cylindrical tower. At the main gateway there is an access ramp with two pointed horseshoe arches framed by a moulding, with a doorway to the outside and a groove for a portcullis.
The keep was declared a National Historic/Artistic Monument in 1943. It stands off-centre in the bailey and has a height of 30 metres, with a part of the keep currently underground.
