Bodegas Vertijana
Bodegas Vertijana is located in the town of Polícar, on the plateau of the Alhama River valley, in the Sierra Nevada Nature Reserve, 1,200 metres above sea level. It has 6 hectares of its own vineyards growing the Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah varieties, using organic treatments certified by the CAAE.
The wine cellar is relatively small and friendly, where tradition and modern vine cultivation techniques go hand in hand. There is an area where the grapes are received, another for fermentation and the area for ageing both in barrels and in the bottle.
Although there is evidence of the existence of vineyards in Polícar since the 10th century, it was in 2001 when Torcuato and Amparo started planting their vineyards. They then started building the wine cellar and, despite being young, the wines produced in Bodegas Vertijana, already come under the Vinos de Calidad de Granada PDO, and have won numerous awards for their unique qualities and excellence. You can sample and appreciate them during your visit!
Prior appointment for visits is required.
