La Calderona (Osuna) Trail – PR-A 379

The La Calderona (Osuna) Trail – PR-A 379 starts in the municipal district of Osuna, at kilometre 34.9 on the A-351 highway to El Saucejo. This point marks the start of a gravel path laid down alongside an electricity substation. We continue along this path and through an underpass beneath the A-92 highway. A little further on, we continue along the Vereda de la Calderona track, which crosses the Arroyo Salado and we enter the agricultural landscapes of Las Salinas and Los Enredaderos.

We cross this flat countryside between olive groves and fields of cereals to reach the so-called Viñas de Los Llanos, where we turn right to take the Vereda del Peinado path, so called because of the stream running alongside it. Here you can enjoy the riverside landscape where the grove of tamarisks is the main feature, reaching extensions of several hectares. We will find the remains of the Cortijo del Peinado farmhouse and some ancient olive groves, now abandoned, on the left side of the Peinado path.

Just before we reach the Cortijo del Otero farmhouse we take the municipal public pathway called the Urraco, which takes us back to the start of the trail via the Cortijo San José farmhouse. But first we will have to cross the Arroyo Salado stream again, whose riverbed has a great deal of vegetation at this point. Through this area called Las Vegas we take the service road of the A-92 highway until we return to where this trail started.

The streams of El Peinado y El Término have their source in the protected area of the Pinalejo, where the main orographic features of Osuna are to be found: La Gomera (810 m), El Gomerón (754 m.) and Los Higuerones (605 m). All these are to be found within an area which is denominated "El Pinalejo" in the catalogue of Protected Areas and Heritage. The length of the Peinado in the district of Osuna is 33.5 Km.
