The Cerro Muriano Fair is an annual celebration that takes place over the course of several days at the end of July in honour of Saint James and Saint Anne. The local community takes part in a variety of activities, including contests, games and live performances. Two of the most notable traditions are the selection of the queen and maids of honour from among the local children, women and grandmothers, and the selection of the nicest and most handsome man in the neighbourhood. In both cases, the selections are made by secret ballot.
