Juan Ternero Mingorance was born in Málaga in 1889 and died this same city in 1970 His artistic name (the black berry boy) comes from a 'pregón' he sang whilst he sold black berries in his neighbourhood el Palo When he was an adolescent he even sang with Juan Breva, Antonio Chacón, la Niña de los Peines and many other artists of his era He stood out above all for his 'malagueños', and even managed to cover the style of el Canario de Álora In 1969 he won the award for 'tarantas' and 'cartageneras' in The Mines of La Unión Flamenco Song Festival
