Cisternas Romanas de Monturque
The Roman Cisterns of Monturque are one of the most valuable examples of Roman hydraulic engineering in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the best preserved, thanks to its late discovery in the late nineteenth century.
They have been declared of Cultural Interest in 1996.
They consist of 12 chambers covered with half-vault barrel and distributed in 3 parallel aisles. Each aisle is composed of 4 rectangular chambers with circular openings at the top, which help to ensure good ventilation and water conservation.
