The Garnelo Museum in Montilla is a palace house with characteristic style of the stately mansions of the late nineteenth century. The house is structured in three floors, with eight exhibition rooms. It is commonly known as the "Casa de las Aguas" for being located the water tanks that were used to supply the city. 

His collection includes 180 works that make a widely representative tour of the different stages and multiple facets of the artist, so that the viewer can assess the size and exceptional value of the painter's production. Drawings, watercolors and, above all, oil paintings have been included, also attending a great variety of themes, where we can highlight works such as La Dolorosa, El Pedagogo, Gitanas or la Capea in the Navas del Marqués, among others.

José Garnelo y Alda (1866-1944) was an essential artist in a period of profound changes at every level, factors which would determine the incorporation of the avant-garde concept. He was an important teacher, to the point of being named in his time Painter of the Crown.

Winter opening times: Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 2pm and 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Saturday 11am to 2pm and 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Sunday and bank holidays 11 am to 2 pm. Monday, Closed. Summer opening times (16 June to 20 September): Tuesday to Friday 9am to 2.30pm. Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 11am to 2pm. Monday, Closed.
