Bodegas Alvear
A visit to these “shrines of wine” is one of the most important attractions in the town of Montilla. You can feel the peace and quiet and see the tradition of the production of these wines. Alvear, established in 1729, is the oldest winery in Andalusia.
This winery is part of the Montilla-Moriles Wine Route and makes the wine using "Pedro Ximénez" grapes which grow in more than 300 hectares of vineyards in the Sierra de Montilla hills.
A visit to Bodegas Alvear, which is over 90,000 m2, includes a tour full of charm where you can see the press, fermentation room and ageing cellars, as well as trying the wine while learning about its characteristics and correct tasting.
