Monda - Camino Alto Trail - PR-A 277
Each landscape can be interpreted as a souvenir of the natural and human history of the territory. The outstanding scenic diversity of Alpujata about the activities of the inhabitants, such as agriculture and livestock breeding. To this we can add the limestone mountains reforested with lush pine forest and dotted with lime kilns; brownish mountain ranges rich in ferric minerals, where the cork trees and Portuguese oaks abound, and whose traditional use was the extraction of cork and forestry; soil with a clay substratum, for non-irrigated farming such as olive and almond trees that climb up the steep hillsides by means of terraces, and irrigated farmland, vegetable gardens, with a deep Moorish tradition, its terraces crossed by hundreds of irrigation channels bringing the cool waters from the Alpujata stream, where in olden times the women of the village went to wash clothes while they sang and gossiped.
The Monda - Camino Alto Trail - PR-A 277 starts on the path leading to the Alpujata. As we continue the path runs alongside the Alpujata stream.
After about 800 m the path divides into three, we take the one on the right to reach the Alpujata recreational and sports area which we skirt around and continue along the path which enters a dense pine forest, climbing gently but constantly up to the so-called Camino Alto, classified as a Drovers' Road.
By this route, the path joins the A-335 highway very near the entrance to Monda.
