General Reding
Situated at the historic centre of the town of Mengíbar, the gastronomic restaurant General Reding is located in the old stables belonging to the Hotel Palacio de Mengíbar, and the mangers and the whole structure of wooden beams and reinforcements are still intact. During the War of Independence, they were used to hold the artillery for General Reding when he set up general headquarters in the palace on 14 July 1808 and conquered Napoleon's troops two days later next to the Guadalquivir River.
The dishes at General Reding are based on traditional products, top quality ingredients and an innovate twist based on the most up-to-date culinary techniques.
As a point of reference, some noteworthy dishes are the Jaén salad of roast peppers with duck leg and dried, salted tuna, the slow-cooked hake with saffron court bouillon, roast leeks and Guernica peppers and the petits pains with a touch of perfumed milk, and whisky and almond honey ice cream.
