Keep of Mengíbar Castle

The Keep is the most emblematic building of the castle in Mengíbar. Visitors can see the remains of an ancient fortress around which the population centre emerged.

The tower was built in the 13th century. It has a square floor plan, measuring 13.70 metres on each side, and is approximately 25.50 metres high. It has three rooms with brick vaults, a terrace, and a small cistern, with a floor plan of about 4 square metres. The tower was restored in 1982, regaining the beauty and solidity it had lost over the centuries. In 1985, it was declared as Heritage of Cultural Interest.
