Melchor Jiménez Torres was born in Marchena in 1907 and died in Madrid in 1980 Flamenco was for him part of his body, as this guitarist belonged to a family of gypsy´s, where there were lots of artists such as El Chindo or La Gilica, a great singer of the 'soleá´ style and the mother of Juan el Cuacua, the cousin of Jiménez Torres
Melchor´s father El Lico, was also a good guitar player and his father La Josefita, stood out for his singing He has always been one of the best guitar players of flamenco history to accompany song, a facet in which he worked with all the greatest of his era and created a school which is followed by his own son Enrique de Melchor, or others such as Antonio Carrión
Melchor played for Pastora and Tomás Pavón, however, above all for Antonio Mairena and Caracol, who fought for him This is not surprising as his guitar always adjusted to the song of each artist and he never needed to be in the spotlight, although it is true that he that he created an infinite number of 'falsetas´ which today are executed still
