Over 600 of the local inhabitants of Medina Sidonia appear every year in the Living Nativity, whose beauty and charm captivates the thousands of people who visit the town.
The Living Nativity is an invitation to spectators to take a tour of the most attractive streets and squares in the Historic-Artistic centre of the town, declared a site of cultural interest. Over the course of one day, the residents of Medina Sidonia who take part in the Nativity re-enact the more than 60 scenes which make up the performance.
The Medina Sidonia nativity is a event to be experienced with all the five senses, and by walking through all the streets and squares which serve as the backdrop for the re-enactment, visitors will be rewarded with a genuinely unique spectacle.
Over 60 scenes take us through every detail of the history of the city. As well as the actual crib scene itself and the camp of the Three Kings, visitors can also see the craftsmen's workshops, the farm labourers at work, shepherds grazing their flocks, merchants, barbers, butchers, grocers, artisans, bakers, etc.
