Matilde Corrales González was born in Sevilla in 1935 At twenty years of age she already worked in El Guajiro, where she met her husband, Rafael el Negro She also worked with Pastora Imperio whilst still young and in 1967 she founded her dance academy, through which all the great figures of later generations have passed In this same year she won the Pilar López and Encarnación López la Argentinita Awards in Córdoba Curiously she is the only dancer to be awarded the Gold Key of Dance in 1975 Along with her husband and la Farruco she formed the trío Los Bolecos However currently Matilde nearly doesn´t dance, as she has dedicated herself completely to teaching, maintaining her dancing school in Sevilla thanks to her brilliant arm movements She is a qualified teacher, from Córdoba´s Dramatic Arts and Dance Conservatory and is one of the important dancers of flamenco dancing history
