La Villa Castle
La Villa Castle is an urban castle that, together with La Peña Castle, were one of the most important defensive structures of the Order of Calatrava against the Kingdom of Granada. Both castles were declared Historic Monuments in 1985.
La Villa Castle sits on a rocky hill where the acropolis of the city of Tucci was located in the Ibero-Roman era, and which was converted in the Islamic era into Hisn. Its structure was modified at many different points in history, and during the Christian era, with the Order of Calatrava, the most important restoration work took place, with the construction of a large keep in the fortress, as well as other towers and walls.
This enclosure was connected to La Peña Castle with walls, of which some remains are preserved, completely protecting the city, which was surrounded by the walls, protecting the La Villa and La Peña castles.
