Cortijo de María Luisa

This is an easily accessible and spacious spot, convenient for people from the adjoining towns to go to on summer nights to enjoy the meteor shower. The horizon is very wide, dark at the zenith and free from light pollution or the most part. Only the light from Martos pollutes the east and north-east horizons.

You are recommended to go to the old back esplanade of the former cortijo de María Luisa, a farmhouse on the border between the provinces of Córdoba and Jaén, in the municipality of Martos. It is easily reached from the village of Monte Lope-Álvarez going towards Albendín, close to the province border is a turn-off to the left to Alcaudete. At this point you can see the large plain of cereals with the old farmhouse, preceded by a row of trees along the access road.

The back has a large area to leave your vehicle and to settle to enjoy the night-time show.
