History
Its name comes from Captain Martín Angulo, who brought settlers to the AREA which was full of jaras (cistus). The origins to the village date back to the Middle Ages. It grew around a country inn built on the royal road between Seville and Malaga as a place where travelers could rest and horses be shoed.
It belonged to the duchy of Osuna until it became an independent municipality as a result of the abolition of feudal domains in the 19th century.
