Manuela Carrasco was born in the neighbourhood of Triana in Sevilla in 1958 and from her childhood developed as a dancer with a temperament nearly in extinction She was brought up in a family of artists, and spent long periods in the 'tablao´ Los Canasteros, where she gained a lot of fame, until in 1974 she won the Pastora Imperio Award for 'Bulerías´ in Córdoba´s National Competition On marrying the guitarist Joaquín Amador, brother of La Susi, Manuela Carrasco began to work on her own, setting up her own shows, always based on tradition and orthodoxy She triumphed before Queen Sofia in New York along with other maestro´s such as Farruco, Chocolate or la Fernanda and is a great success in Japan In the 2000 Biennial she presented Así baila Sevilla, a production with which she had a great success
