Manuel Moreno Jiménez was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1929 and is currently the oldest representative of the Morao house He started in the guitar world through Javier Molina At the age of twelve he already lived with artists such as La Niña de los Peines or Antonio Mairena and began to travel in Caracol, Lola Flores or Concha Piquer´s company´s
In the fifties he became consolidated as the first guitarist of Antonio´s National Ballet, travelling with El Bailarín world-wide After many years working on stage, Manuel Morao decided to take a back stage role in order to give the young up and coming musicians of his homeland an opportunity
At the beginning of the eighties he created Gitanos de Jerez, a company designed to help and promote the latest generation of new artists Thanks to this initiative, singers such as La Macanita or El Torta have come to light and have recorded albums with a multitude of artists all gypsies He received the Rhythm of Flamenco Song Award in 2001 awarded by the Cruzcampo Foundation His saga stays alive through his niece Manuel Moreno Junquera, Moraíto Chico
