One of the largest and best-known squares in the city of Málaga,  with an obelisk paying tribute to General Torrijos in the centre.

Since 2008 there has also been a portrait sculpture of Pablo Ruiz Picasso sitting on a marble bench, it was made in bronze by Francisco López Hernández.

The "plaza" is square-shaped and in the surrounding area there are numerous cultural resources such as the
Picasso Foundation Birthplace Museum, the Cervantes Theatre, Church of Santiago, the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba fortress, etc.
