Fundación Picasso - Museo Casa Natal
The Pablo Ruiz Picasso Foundation - Birthplace Museum was created on 26 February 1988 by agreement at the plenary session of the Málaga City Council. Its headquarters, the house where the artist was born, is located right in the centre of Málaga and it is a Historic-Artistic Monument of National Interest.
From 1988 to 1997 the facilities of the Foundation were mainly on the first floor of the building, but they have since been extended to the rest of the building after it was restored and re-inaugurated by the King and Queen of Spain.
In 2005 the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Foundation - Birthplace Museum was further extended with the opening of a new exhibition hall near the site of the headquarters. The objectives of the Foundation are to promote, enrich and publish information the figure and works by the artist in his home town, organising activities (exhibitions, conferences, publications, educational programmes, etc.) and maintaining a Documentation Centre specializing on the artist and the avant-garde.
