Huerta Ave María is dedicated to organic orange farming, especially the magnificent Ave María bitter oranges, mainly used for jam. We also grow the most extraordinary sweet oranges, from October to May.
We grow and deliver the renowned Ave Maria bitter oranges directly from our orchard to the homes of many families in the UK and other countries in Europe. These oranges contain no preservatives or chemical additives and boast the unmistakable aroma of Seville bitter oranges.
Huerta Ave María is located in Mairena del Alcor, 20 km from Seville, in the area known as "Los Alcores", a word that means "rounded hills". This is the original home of Seville oranges, due to the purity of its land, water and climate. In particular, our mineral-rich sandy soil, cooler climate compared to the valley of Seville, and abundant water (Mairena means "water from the fountain") are highly valued. Our water was brought from Mairena del Alcor to Seville by the Romans, Almohads and Britons throughout history.
These are the unique conditions that give our oranges such finesse, flavour and aroma. For centuries, these qualities have led street vendors in Seville to shout “De Mairena las buenas“ – “The good ones from Mairena".
