Visita con audioguía al Castillo del Moral, Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico
The Archaeological and Ethnological Museum is situated in Castillo del Moral. This defensive fortress was built in the Almohad period and was designated a national monument in 1931. It earned this status because the last Nasrid King of Granada, Boabdil 'The Little King' was held captive in this fortified place, after being captured in the battle of Martín González in 1483.
Some time after that it became the residence of the Marquises of Comares. Later on it was included in the inventory of the Dukes of Medinaceli and became a palace. Most of it was rebuilt because of this.
Since 2001, Castillo del Moral has been the town's Archaeological and Ethnological Museum. It offers visitors a themed tour over ten rooms, showing the evolution and character of Lucena. There is an interactive point in each room to give information to visitors. The ticket includes an audio guide, available in Spanish, English, French and German.
It is considered to be one of the few examples left of a castle on a plain found in Andalusia.
The tour is guided by mobile app.
