The Habichuela family from Granada has a long ancestry which could well date back to El Habichuela Viejo, the father of Tía Marina and José Carmona Fernández, from where all the members of the current saga originate However, currently the guitar is their main referent
Juan (Granada, 1933), Pepe (1944), Luis (1947-1993) and Carlos (1958) currently compose the team of one of the flamenco families with most impact on flamenco history All the Carmona´s, that is their surname, stand out for their accompaniment of song Juan is the oldest and the best known He received the National Guitar Award from the Study of Flamenco Professorship in Jerez in 1976, the Rhythm of Flamenco Song and the Calle de Alcalá Awards, amongst many others
On his part, Pepe Habichuela separated from accompaniment to song, after many years accompanyingEnrique Morente and currently enjoys an interesting solo career with results such as the record Yerbagüena, a piece of work that puts flamenco in contact with Hindu music
