History
Under the Roman domination it was a recreational settlement called Lauro which may have been linked to Ostipo and Ventipo.During the period of Al-Andalus it was a fairly important urban centre called Al-Auria.
It belonged to the Military Order of Santiago from the Christian conquest until the 16th century, when Philip II donated it to Adán Centurión y Ultramarino.
The origins of the present village date back to the late 16th or early 17th century.
It was part of the domain of the marquis of Estepa until 1837, year in which all feudal domains were abolished.
