Municipal Historical Museum of the Alcazaba of Loja
The Municipal Historical Museum of the Alcazaba, in Loja, displays the best of the municipality's archaeological collection. There are palaeographic documents, a collection of items related to Holy Week in Loja, funerary objects of an archaeological nature from the Iberian and Visigoth eras, etc.
The Municipal Historical Museum of the Alcazaba in Loja (MHA) opened in February 2004. It display's the best of the municipality of Loja's collection of sculptural, pictorial, historical, heraldic and formal items. The museum currently consists of 2 large 250-square metre exhibition halls in the Casa de los Alcaides Cristianos in what was the garrison of the Alcazaba, as well as an office, storeroom and workshop located in the access to the museum. The Loja Historical Visitor Centre, located next to the pedestrian access to the La Alcazaba neighbourhood, also serves as an additional resource serving as the reception and information point for visitors, together with the archaeological lookout points in Calle Moraima and the Ochavada tower.
From Tuesday to Friday from 10:30 am. to 1:45 pm. Saturday from 12 pm. to 2 pm. Sunday from 10 am. to 2 pm. Mondays, closed.
