Fundición La Tortilla Trail. Mineras de Linares Routes – PR-A 265
Strolling along this path, you travel back to a memory of a period of the history of Linares; its mining industry; which, during the 19th and half of the 20th century, was the way of life for many of the inhabitants, and the heritage of which is scattered throughout the area. There are mines, shafts and foundries, today abandoned, where you can still see the demolished granite constructions, the tall chimneys of the foundries and the old “headframes” for extracting material.
This is a trail which runs through the Camino de la Tortilla, which is very frequently used by inhabitants of Linares and is not at all worn down. 2 km away is the Fundición de la Tortilla foundry; a crossroads and several buildings in ruins reflect its importance in the mining history of Linares. After passing in front of a vegetable water extraction plant and under an old bridge of the mine railway, today converted into the Minas de Plomo Greenway, the path climbs up via the rocky hill of San Pedro to the Cañada de Incosa mountain pass; from which we continue, to the right, by a section that offers, to the west, magnificent views of the town Baños de la Encina.
After 1.4 km we join the main road and via a wooden staircase we take the Greenway to a junction (that connects with Mina de la Gitana trail PR-A 264) we go by the solid waste treatment plant and follow the old paved Siles path which will lead us back to Linares.
