Sucursal del Banco Español de Crédito
The building of the Banco Español de Crédito branch, with a façade built in sandstone and its historicist style, overlooks one of the most beautiful sides of Linares. Situated in the Constitution plaza, near the Gardens of Santa Margarita, it commemorates the first branch of the Banco Español de Crédito (Banesto) in Spain.
The so-called "second headquarters" of the Banco Español de Crédito, provisionally built in 1908 at Calle Calatrava, very close to its current location, is the first office opened after the main office of Banesto in Madrid, synonymous with the importance and economic power that Linares boasted at another time. An emblematic building, after the acquisition of Banesto by Grupo Santander and over 100 years in operation, it closed its doors on April 11, 2014.
