Paseo de Linarejos
The layout and construction of the Paseo de Linarejos dates back to 1843, completed in 1875, when Linares obtained the title of city, during the reign of Alfonso XII.
This walkway starts next to the gardens of Santa Margarita, at the Fuente de la Constitución fountain, and it ends at the shrine to the town's patron saint, the Virgen de Linarejos. In an almost straight line, it joins old and modern Linares. To the left of it is the imposing Madrid station, where you can visit the Mining Landscape Visitor Centre.
At the end of the first section of the Paseo de Linarejos is the Glorieta de América roundabout. At its centre stands the bronze monument to the illustrious musician from Linares Andrés Segovia, the work of the sculptor Julio López Hernández.
Between the Plaza de la Constitución and the Glorieta de América, it is about 500 metres long and 30 metres wide, divided into a main avenue and two narrower side walks, all of which are pedestrian. It is flanked by palm trees and abundant vegetation. It is worth noting the cast-iron lamp posts in Modernist style and the benches with tiles depicting the history of Linares through historic imagery.
