Fuente del Pisar
Legend has it that in the 16th century, a knight rode through here and his horse's foot sunk into the ground, becoming trapped As he freed it, he saw how a stream of water began to gush, which hasn't stopped flowing since: the Fuente del Pisar, in Linares. The history, or legend, of a fountain that began flowing after a horse "stood" on it can be explained due to the fact that there was a Roman aqueduct that carried water from the Linarejos springs that flowed under the fountain. Part of the construction is still preserved.
Another popular belief is that the water from the Fuente del Pisar has healing properties, which resulted in a song that said whoever drinks from it will forget their origin and their family to stay forever in Linares.
“Everyone who drinks water
from this Fuente de Pisar
will forget about their father and mother
and will never return to their land.”
Today, the Fuente de Pisar is one of the entrances to the "El Pisar" Multi-Purpose Park, the new Linares showground, through the Mariana Pineda gardens.
