El Cura Organic Cortijo Winery

El Cura Organic Cortijo Winery is in the Almeria municipality of Laujar de Andarax; they make their wines following traditional wine production methods, taking rigorous care of the hygiene at their facilities and using latest-generation machinery.

Production is limited, as it is based on quality, not quantity. The only use grapes from their own vineyards. It is a 25-hectare estate, all worked in accordance with organic farming standards for more than ten years. Of the 15 hectares of vines, around 6 are more than 40 years old.

They grow varieties of vines that are native to Laujar, such as Jaén Blanca and Jaén Negro, Jaén; they also have other better-known varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Tempranillo.

They are, furthermore, an experimental estate where the adaptation and quality of over 20 varieties of grapevines are researched.
