Aguadero Trail - PR-A 37
The Aguadero Trail - PR-A 37 allows us to enjoy a landscape with abundant vegetation of the National Park and Nature Reserve of the Sierra Nevada, where a unique tree can be noted, the Castaño de la Rosa. The route passes through various crystal-clear water gorges and ancient farmhousescan be seen, some of them restored. This privileged environment is considered to be one of the driving forces of the province Almeria.
The PR-A 37 Trail starts at the El Nacimiento recreation area, 1 kilometre from Láujar de Andarax. From there, we follow the trail that ascends between limestone cliffs, along the banks of the Andarax river to the Chillo gorge, where the start of this path is signposted.
The path ascends among almond, olive and oak terraces, until we reach a splendid era, a traditional place where the rice grain was separated from its hull. From here, we can enjoy the spectacular landscape: the Andarax valley, dominated by the Almirez hill (2,519 m), and the Sierra de Gádor in the background.
Throughout the route, we can see curious geological phenomena created by the erosion of water and the effect of the temperature.
