Museo Taurino Antonio Fuentes Zurita
The Antonio Fuentes Zurita Bullfighting Museum, in La Puebla de Cazalla, arose with the aim of recovering collective memory of this famous bullfighter (Seville, 1869 -1938), whose professional career spanned the last decade of the 19th century and the initial years of the 20th.
This toreador mixed with the great figures of this period of maximum bullfighting splendour, including Algabeño, Bombita, Gallito, Guerrita, Lagartijo, Machaquito, Mazzantini, Reverte, Zocato and many more. His notable style, which was always imbued with his great artistic ability, has ensured he has gone down in history.
His work in farming, livestock breeding and business, his contribution to the economic and industrial activity of La Puebla de Cazalla and his special connection with this Sevillan settlement is shown through multiple initiatives, with his name being forever linked to La Puebla via a public road, the magnificent country house “La Coronela” and two large buildings: the winery (today an auditorium that hosts cultural activities) and chalet, which is today a retirement home and the headquarters of the museum.
