Bodegas Rubio
In La Palma del Condado and founded in 1893, Bodegas Rubio is heir, since 1965, to the vintages of the former Bodegas Morales. The Rubio family has managed to take the helm of this art form: the production and ageing. They have also managed to project their labour with skill and moderation.
Bodegas Rubio owns an exquisite winery comprising several rooms. The layout of the brick segmental arches, which are also used for the flooring, and the contrast with the white walls are two of the highlights. The wines are stored in barrels and casks across three levels. The majestic atmosphere is completed with the wooden gable roof, giving the ensemble a clean and stately air.
However, the greatness of this winery reaches its zenith in the sacristy: where the most prized wines are stored. The star product is Luis Felipe brandy, created following a distillation process, as well as the ageing and "solera" system that makes it a highly regarded beverage nationally and internationally. The production of extremely high quality vinegar is another highlight, under the name of Corumbel.
Bodegas Rubio offers a guided tour and explanatory talk of the winery, with optional tasting Brandy Luis Felipe Luis Felipe or liquor.
