Ecolocaliza - Avistamiento de cetáceos, educación ambiental e investigación

Ecolocaliza is an ecotourism company whose objective is to promote tourism geared towards environmental education to raise awareness and improve the status of conservation in nature in general, and the marine environment in particular. The aim is also to give the general public access to research that currently goes under the name of "citizen science".

With this in mind, we organise sailing boat excursions to observe cetaceans and that include educational talks and participation in research activities in the Bahía de Algeciras and the Strait of Gibraltar. The species we observe are of great biological interest and highlight the importance of the natural resources in this area. ese guided tours are exclusively for small groups and are accompanied by a biologist with experience in citing cetaceans cetaceans and a long history of working with cetaceans in the Bahía de Algeciras. The tours also involve undertaking research activities in which the customers participate and will help to improve both our knowledge and the conservation of the species observed, because the data collected will be used in subsequent research work.

Some of the excursions are quite short and others take a full day. The material used includes manuals on cetaceans, support sheets for explanations and binoculars to search for the creatures and see them better. The excursions are available to the general public on scheduled dates that are published on the website and the social media, and for private groups on specific dates and on request.
