The Palacio del Recreo de las Cadenas, of eclectic style, was designed by Charles Garnier (Paris Opera House and Monte-Carlo Casino) and is currently home to the Fundación Real Escuela de Arte Ecuestre. It is considered a benchmark of Jerez and nineteenth-century Andalusian palace architecture.

It has two facades, the eastern imitates the features of the monumental Baroque and French classicist, called the Second Empire style, and the western has a greater Neoclassical influence. It is surrounded by large gardens characterized by its wide variety of exotic plants. Particularly striking is the large fountain that adorns the center of the gardens and with its water invites the visitor to go into the Fundación Real Escuela de Arte Ecuestre.

The Reception Rooms of the palace are designed in the purest Louis XV French style. The stained glass windows, the carved fireplaces and the bronzes on the stairs maintain the essence of the old palatial home or mansions. They were ideal settings for the shooting of some successful films such as ‘Cuba’, ‘Volaverunt’ or ‘Montoyas y Tarantos’.

In the basement you will find the Museo del Arte Ecuestre, which consists of 11 rooms where you can discover the origins and history of equestrian art and the horse in Andalusia.

Monday to Friday from 10 am. to 2 pm. Saturday, with a show, from 10 am. to 2 pm. (Only the Museum of Equestrian Art)
