Atalaya Museums Palace of Time are located in the Palacete de la Atalaya (1873), surrounded by really beautiful gardens, in Jerez de la Frontera. It is a cultural, museum and educational centre where you will discover the world of Jerez wines and specifically designed to host events, conventions, fairs, exhibitions and meetings.

There are three separate areas:

  • The Mystery of Jerez, located in an old wine-cellar, is a multimedia museum and educational centre, equipped with the latest technologies, where the history of Jerez wine, its development and its social, cultural and economic implications are exhibited. During your visit you will learn about the vineyards, varieties of grapes, the climate, how wine is made and the system of ageing and vintages, as well as the different types of sherries (fino, amontillado, oloroso, sweet, etc.)

  • The Atalaya Gardens designed in the style of 19th-century French landscaping and with botanical species from that era.

  • The Palace of Time is the most characteristic part of the Atalaya Museums. There are ten rooms and one of the most valuable collections of antique clocks in Europe, with 302 items of which 280 are on display in the Museum. Of special interest is the oldest clock, dating back to 1670; there are English clocks, pocket clocks, desk clocks, travel clocks, bedside clocks, etc.
