Museo de la Viña al Vino de Jerez
In the region of Jerez de la Frontera, Viña Santa Petronila estate is home to the Museo de la Viña al Vino de Jerez, a museum dedicated to local wines, including sherry, and the fascinating winemaking tradition dating back to before 1737.
At Bodega Santa Petronila you will learn all about vineyards, the grape harvest and grape crushing, how musts were produced and turned into Sherry in the 18th and 19th century, as well as how such methods compare to those used today.
They have recovered part of the cultural heritage of the Marco de Jerez region: a typical Vineyard House of the Jerez countryside, with its “casa de la gente" (people's house), winepress, the workers and their quarters, oven, gallery and "almijar" (where grapes are aired before crushing).
The Museum is housed in the old winepress and "casa de la gente" of the Vineyard House. This has been complemented with information panels, photographs and videos… all presented amid fabulous countryside.
Viña Santa Petronila runs wine tasting courses, cookery courses, vineyard and wine harvest experiences, horse riding, etc.
