Bodegas Cortijo de Jara
In Jerez de la Frontera and within the Marco de Jerez Wine and Brandy Route, Cortijo de Jara occupies a typical Andalusian farm building. This farmhouse evokes the abundance of Roman towns in the Jerez countryside. In the second half of the 13th century, the Donadío de Xara was amongst the great properties awarded to the town of Jerez by Alfonso X.
Inside it, making the most of the old barns and warehouses, and respecting its structure, we find the winery. Around the courtyard, the rest of the rooms are laid out, where tradition and modernity come together: a system fro receiving the grapes, cold rooms, a small cellar with barrels, a controlled temperature cellar, laboratory and bottling and packaging areas.
The shop occupies one side. Next to it is the tasting and meetings room and a large outdoor terrace with views of the vineyards and olive groves.
Cortijo de Jara produces wines made on the estate itself, with grapes from its own vineyards grown through integrated production, carefully selected with criteria where quality predominates over quantity. The estate also produces olive oil.
Its facilities may be adapted for organised tastings, product launches, work meetings, etc. With a surface area of 400 hectares, you can wander freely over the trails on the estate and get to know the different crops in the area. Visits: Monday–Saturday: by prior appointment and, preferably, between noon and 4.30 pm. (groups of 7 people minimum) Shop in Calle Medina from Monday to Friday: 8 am to 2 pm.
