Puente Tablas Archaeological Site
The Puente Tablas Archaeological Site is located about 6 km from the city of Jaén.
There is evidence of its great heritage value as a result of the long occupation of the place, from the Bronze Age as a Pre-Iberian settlement right up to Moorish period, the most important era being from the 7th century to the end of the 3rd century B C when it disappeared.
This fortified city shows the urban layout and dwellings of the Iberians from the Upper Guadalquivir, iconic fortifications like the walls of the oppidum (upper walled town) built of solid stone with an adobe upper surface and more than 5 metres high, the intersection between the renowned Puerta del Sol and a sanctuary dating back to the mid-4th century B C and a Palace that was the residence of the prince.
