Bodega Secadero Montesierra cured ham company is in the town of Jabugo, Huelva province. The origins of Montesierra date back to the late 19th century, when the Martín family created the company - today run by the fourth generation - and named it using keywords of its activity: “Monte” (Mountain), where Iberian pigs are raised and fattened, and “Sierra”, referring to the Jabugo mountains, the best place in Spain to make leg and shoulder of ham.

Bodega Secadero Montesierra is a company with its own facilities, at the very forefront of the meat industry: slaughterhouse, cured meat preparation area, fats manufacturing area and salting areas.

The microclimate in Jabugo, along with the superb natural drying and storage sites where the pieces are allowed to cure slowly, create these gourmet delicacies. This tradition, combined with avant-garde business innovation, has enabled Montesierra, with its 80 employees and 30,000 square metres of facilities, to become a leading firm in the Andalusia food industry.

Montesierra offers a basic tour of its facilities (drying and storage areas), with an explanation of the production process and a visit to the shop.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, basic route at 1 pm. Saturdays, visit + tasting at 12 noon. Prices: Basic Route: free. Visit + tasting: 6 €. Visit + lunch: 20 €. Visit to the meadow, drying area and tasting: 10 €. Ask us about prices for groups, collectives, students and OAPs.
