Istán - the - El Picacho Trail PR-A 139
The Istán - El Picacho - PR-A 139 Trail begins near Hotel Altos de Istán. Facing southeast, looking up and a little to the left, we see the characteristic outline of El Picacho peak and the winding path leading up to it.
Behind the hotel there is a water tank, and we take the track on the left. A few metres along, on the right, lies the start of the path, which zigzags up to a pass, where we will see that the path continues up and connects with the Istán - La Concha route.
We carry on left and, a few metres further on, we reach El Picacho, where we can enjoy stunning views over the town of Istán, with the Sierra Real mountains in the background, Plaza de Armas (at 1,330 metres) and, a little further back and to the right, Torrecilla, the highest peak in the province. We follow the same path to go back down.
