Feria de Istán

The San Miguel Arcángel Fair takes place on the weekend nearest to 29 September, in honour of the patron saint of the town and lasts for 4-6 days.

Times of joy, jubilation and crowds in the town of Istán, where the square becomes an endless festival. From eight o'clock in the morning a Music Band parades through the streets, in what is called “Diana Floreada”, accompanied by the people of the town, until they reach the square where the orchestra plays until the next day.

The Fair preserves the popular flavour of the square.

Activities include contests and games, the crowning of queens and maids of honour, and the music band parades through the town.

Contests include, the “ribbon race ”, a traditional “Look for your partner” contest and another that has recently been recovered, the “Sling Shot”, which is becoming more and more popular and takes place at the Mirador Natural de las Herrizas lookout point.
