The pathway through Las Cruces connects the drovers' route that passes through the municipality of Hornachuelos at two points, one at the ford of La Barca on the Bembézar river, and the other at La Almarja, next to the Palma del Río road. This region lies within the Sierra de Hornachuelos Nature Reserve, where we have the mountain pathway on one side (consisting mainly of meadows with holm oaks and dwarf oaks) and farmland on the other where cereals, olive trees and orange trees are grown. This route is not very difficult at all, the land is practically flat and where the main feature is a large hybrid oak tree of the type that used to stand at crossroads (a cross between two species of 'Quercus', holm oak and cork oak).
