The Madres Concepcionistas Convent is one of the many religious organisations founded by the Condal de los Sotomayor family.

Pope Gregory XIII, on 15 September 1573, allowed "the two beguinages of nuns in the town of Hinojosa del Duque, which was part of the County of Belalcázar, to come to together in this convent, commissioned by the very illustrious Don Luis de Sotomayor. These two beguinages were Advocación de la Madre de Dios and Concepción".

The church was consecrated on 28 April 1693.
