Biography

Gualberto García Pérez was born in Seville in 1945. He began playing rock, but because he was born in Triana, he gradually started learning more and more about flamenco. His first serious band was Los Murciélagos, although Gualberto's first real debut was in 1967, when he founded the mythical band Smash.

After this model band was dissolved, he went to the US to continue his studies. There he met the Hindu sitar player Diwan Mothilar, who taught him the secrets of this instrument. He recorded several albums back then, including one in 1979, together with Agujetas, accompanying the great singer from Rota with the sitar.

During the 1980s he collaborated with many musicians and put on several shows, such as "Turruñuelo". He established a great relationship with the guitarist Ricardo Miño, with whom he recorded in 1983 "Puente Mágico" and "Con trastes" in 1998, one of his masterpieces of flamenco.
