Monte de La Capitana
This observation point allows you to immerse yourself in astronomy, get to grips with science and almost touch the sky with your fingertips. You are in Guadalcanal, on the road that leads to the highest point in the province of Seville, the hill of Monte de La Capitana.
Going north past Guadalcanal towards the small town of Llerena in Extremadura, there is a turn-off to the left beside a small park and viewpoint with a small telecommunications mast. A few metres away is the sign to the ascent to the astronomical sky viewing point.
On the way, you pass the old astronomical observatory of La Capitana, today in state of neglect but highly recommended to visit because of its fine architecture. A few metres away stands this wonderful viewpoint looking over the south of the Extremadura plateau and the Sierra Norte of Seville. It is one of the clearest and darkest places to see the sky, with a large parking area and no visual obstacles.
