Mirador de Morayma
This restaurant in Granada is located in an authentic "Carmen" (traditional villa) in the Moorish district of Albayzín. With the best views of the Nasrid palaces of the Alhambra, it serves local, indigenous cuisine and an organic wine produced on its rural tourism estate of Alquería de Morayma, in La Alpujarra.
It is an ideal place to recover from a good hike around this monumental city, as it is ten minutes from the Alhambra, the Cathedral and the historic city centre, in the heart of the emblematic district of Sacromonte and the Albayzín.
The "Carmen", a traditional country house in the city. The terracing creates different atmospheres and small dining rooms that embrace the privacy of the diners. Legend has it that Princess Morayma lived here during the captivity of her husband Boabdil, the last king of Granada, which is the origin of its name.
Mirador de Morayma serves the traditional cuisine of Granada: remojón (salad with cod and orange), salmorejo de salobreña (thick gazpacho made with bread), Morayma omelette, crispy asparagus, black pudding with apple, sturgeon from Riofrío, cod with almonds, Albaycinero kid goat and Morayma sweets, and many other specialities. The menu focusses on seasonal, local produce, and there is a very select wine list.
In addition to the excellent cuisine, the Mirador de Morayma is recommended for a romantic dinner, a meal with friends or a celebration, or for congresses and business meetings, as it can offer special features like a welcome drink in the gardens or one of its private dining rooms.
