Carmen Aljibe del Rey
Carmen Aljibe del Rey is a traditional town house located in Granada, in the heart of the Albaicín between the Zirí city wall and the Placeta del Cristo de las Azucenas. It was recently restored and is currently the headquarters of the AguaGranada Foundation. It houses the Water Visitor Centre.
This new cultural facility is an excellent addition to the tourist-cultural and educational attractions in this field. It reminds us of the importance of water during the Al-Andaluz period, the irrigation ditches and how advanced the water supply system was at that time. This building also includes the largest traditional water cistern in the Albaicín. It dates back to the 11th century and gives its name to the building.
